Australian Wildlife - Mt Martha Bush Kinder
This commissioned artwork was created for Clint and Alli, who own and operate a small bush kinder and educational facility on the Mornington Peninsula. With a focus on outdoor learning and environmental play, they requested a piece that would bring the local environment’s flora and fauna to life for the young students. I chose to depict a vibrant, surreal combination of species to captivate the children’s imaginations and spark a sense of wonder.
The mural features a diverse array of local wildlife, from native birds and insects to small marsupials and plant life, creating an immersive experience that transports the children into a lively and fantastical natural world.
The vivid color palette adds a sense of excitement and joy, while the unique pairing of species highlights the interconnectedness of the environment. By incorporating a variety of animals in a dreamlike setting, the mural encourages the children to explore and appreciate the richness of the natural world around them. This visually engaging piece not only serves as an educational tool but also inspires curiosity, fostering a deeper connection to the environment and promoting creative thinking about the world’s diverse species and ecosystems.
It aims to instill a sense of wonder that will stay with the children, sparking conversations about nature, conservation, and the beauty of the world they play in.
