“Below Our Bay” - Community Playground Mural

Mornington Peninsula Shire & The Penman Reserve Community Group

This commissioned mural was created for the Mornngton Peninsula Shire and the Penman Reserve Playground Committee. With funding sourced from the local community , donations, fundraising and assisted by the MP Shire, I was commissioned to create a mural depicting the unique marine fauna that can be found in the bay, particularly from Blairgowrie. The large concrete pipe was sourced specifically for me to paint as the original mural wall was contested by the neighbour who shared the adjoining wall to the playground. A selection of talented Sorrento Primary School students in grades 5 & 6 assisted during the beginning stages of the mural process and the animals and reference images were sourced from a book “ Below Our Bay” by Evan Coker, a local marine biologist and fisheries officer.
