“A Place of Support”

Commissioned by Mornington Community Support Centre Funded by The Rotary Club of Mt Martha

I was honoured to create this mural for the wonderful team at MCSC—a volunteer-powered charity supporting the communities of Mornington, Mt Martha, Mt Eliza, and Moorooduc. The artwork was designed to reflect the centre’s ethos and services: food relief, housing support, connection, refuge, and help in times of hardship.

Set against the backdrop of Port Phillip Bay and Mornington Pier, the piece is filled with layered symbolism:

  • Bonsai – representing peace, harmony, clarity, and the balance between nature and care.

  • Robin and nest – a nod to local wildlife, symbolising nurturing, protection, and new beginnings.

  • Butterfly in metamorphosis – transformation, rebirth, and the journey of life.

  • Island – a refuge from life’s pressures, symbolising inner strength and sanctuary.

  • Tea – a powerful metaphor for unity, comfort, and healing. “A cup of tea and a conversation can save a life.”

I was asked to make this piece joyful, inviting, and full of colour—and I hope it brings a sense of warmth and welcome to all who see it.
