Food For Change Mural

The Briars, Mt Martha
Commissioned by Food For Change

This mural was commissioned by Food For Change, a not-for-profit organisation that grows and distributes fresh produce to people in need, powered entirely by volunteers. The artwork transforms a 40-foot refrigerated container—formerly a plain cool room—into a vibrant visual story that celebrates the organisation’s mission and community spirit.

Inspired by the landscape and life at The Briars in Mt Martha, I set out to capture several key elements: the rolling hills that surround the farm, the fresh produce grown on-site, and, most importantly, the people who make it all happen. A central focus of the mural is a subterranean view of vegetables and roots growing beneath the soil, highlighting the connection between the land and the nourishment it provides.

I also wanted to reflect the sense of community that underpins everything Food For Change does. Through colour, composition, and detail, the mural becomes more than decoration—it’s a visual thank you to the volunteers and a reminder of the impact of shared effort and purpose.

This was a rewarding project in every sense, and it was a privilege to contribute to such an inspiring space.
