Marnie’s Place
Commemorative mural on beach box | Mills Beach, Mornington

I recently had the honour of creating a commemorative mural on “Marnie’s Place,” a cherished beach box at Mills Beach, Mornington. Commissioned by her son Peter, the mural was created to honour the memory of his late mother, Marnie—the beloved matriarch of the family.

Peter specifically requested a cartoon-style caricature to reflect Marnie’s fun-loving spirit and warm personality. She loved spending time at the beach with her family, often with a glass of bubbles in hand, so I aimed to capture that joyful scene in a bright, light-hearted style that felt personal and celebratory.

It was an absolute pleasure painting in such a stunning location over a few perfect-weather days. A huge thank you to Peter and the family for entrusting me with this meaningful tribute.
