“Over a Decade in the Making”

This custom deck was a long time coming. My mate Alex gave it to me over ten years ago, asking for a custom paint job. I started, stopped, changed the design—then life happened. Between moving house, launching a food business, travelling, and raising a family, the project kept getting pushed aside.

I rediscovered the abandoned deck and decided it was finally time to finish what I’d started. After all these years, it was a treat to finally deliver it to Al—thankfully, he liked it (would’ve been awkward if he didn’t).

The artwork features Sun Wukong, the legendary Monkey King from ancient Chinese fable—mischievous, powerful, and defiant. A fitting symbol of resilience and unfinished business finally brought to life.

A small project with a big story, and a reminder that some things are worth the wait.
